I really, REALLy liked this movie. So much so, I went out and dropped the forty bones to own the entire series on DVD.
How the heck this was ever cancelled is a mystery to me.
Anyhow, the movie itself was great. The transition from small screen to big screen was fantastic. The way that Joss managed instant charaterization for those not familiar with the story was excellent. I'm also a fan of the alternate opening, where Simon broke in himself and sprung River. Shows his determination to provide and care for her much more clearly.
I thought the bits between Simon and Kaylee were great, especially at the end when she finds out he likes her.
The other thing that was excellent, was the writing was even better, if you can believe that. Mal's little speech at the very end was great, him talking to river.
I thought the movie was great. I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD. I don't think it will be popular enough to spur a sequel, but I've been wrong before.
