Word Gets Around
- My friend Danielle Corsetto has been keeping readers of her webcomic, Girls with Slingshots, up-to-date on Savannah.
- The Incredible Hulk has been taking donations from his weblog.
- The Adam Hughes Catwoman art auction has info and a link here.
- Comic Art Fans, the website where I post my art collection, has this article.
Thanks everyone!
We've also gotten a TON of donations - over $700 so far! One person sent in $500 - ONE PERSON! The veterinary hospital doesn't tell us specific dollar amounts that they've been donated, but it's more than $500 as well! We were happy to tell them yesterday that we could go ahead with whatever course of care they thought was best, because we could now afford to pay for it! No idea what it's all going to cost, though.
Speaking of the hospital, they'll be doing a group consultation today with a number of specialists, so we should have news to post about her care soon - and it can't be soon enough. We saw her yesterday and she's still groggy from the pain medication. She needs to get use of her jaw back - it's just not comfortable for her to have it wired open all the time.
I can't thank everyone enough for spreading the word and making donations. The response has been absolutely amazing - thanks everyone!

came via the Hulk blog-sent you some funds via paypal-easier and quicker than check. Can you just contact the specialist and expalin this situation--I am sure the doctor would lower his fee when he hears about the out pouringof supportfor the kitty--Heck post the name, and we will launch a polite email campaign to encourAGE THE DOC. It cost nothing to try and you have everything togain-nothing to lose by the attempt. Also try a local vet university-often they will help out for pro bono, at east they do in IND.

Well, the vet has been doing everything he can to keep costs down - he hasn't been charging for his time, only for supplies. He spoke to the specialist, though, and the specialist couldn't or wouldn't lower his fees. That's why Savannah had the first surgery, which was Dr. Bob's attempt to fix the problem without going through the specialist.
HOWEVER, it looks like we've got enough money now to use the specialist even if he doesn't lower his rates! Here's hoping... we'll post any news as we get it.
Thanks for the donations!

Our Dr. Todd is very much like your vet. We have a history of bringing in homeless, injured animals, and he and his staff donate their time and charge us for only the cost of the supplies. Now they have a donation fund set up for those sort of circumstances (we donate frequently...just in case). When I heard about your little Frankenkitty, I passed the information on my husband who, in turn, contacted your vet and made a donation in our vet's name. We'll be checking your blog regularly to keep up with how Savannah's doing, and we're hoping for the best.
