Whiskey

Whiskey (née Whiskas, named by her original owners for the cat food) was a budgie we'd adopted from friends of Heather's, who could no longer keep her due to a move. She was friendly and liked to sit with me at first. When we moved her into a cage with Grover, one of our other budgies, she bonded strongly to Grover and became a bit less friendly with us. She was a cute little white and blue bird.

She died yesterday due to complications from surgery after becoming eggbound.

I Have To Go Smash My Brains Now

Listening to Jack.fm (a Vancouver station I always listen to at work because they play just about everything) and "MmmBop" by Hanson comes on. I found myself bopping along and singing.

I must be put out of my misery now.

Lea Hernandez's house burns

from a post at Newsarama by Gail Simone:

Early this morning, the Texas home of award-winning writer/artist Lea Hernandez, my friend and co-creator of the graphic novel Killer Princesses, caught fire and burned. Half her house is now gone, and the rest is smoke-damaged. In addition, she lost at least six of her family’s beloved pets, two dogs and four cats. If you knew Lea, you’d know how devastating that is.
Lea is a talent artist and lover of small furry animals - for those of you who helped out when Savannah needed it, please consider sending some money their way. The family needs a place to stay and clothes and shoes and the like.

More info can be found at Lea's blog or at the Newsarama post, above. Her PayPal email is divalea@gmail.com if you want to send directly. I plan to.
